2021 ZGC Global High-level Think Tank Forum for Science and Technology Innovation

On September 25, the 2021 ZGC Global High-level Think Tank Forum for Science and Technology Innovation was held in Zhongguancun. This forum is one of the 25 parallel forums of the Zhongguancun Forum. It was jointly hosted by Beijing Academy of Science and Technology, Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development, the Institutes of Science and Development of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the National Academy of Innovation Strategy. The ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance was the organizer. 



The forum invited top scientists, representatives of international organizations, and outstanding entrepreneurs from 10 countries including China, the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Canada, Austria, South Korea, Japan, Serbia, and Israel to discuss the concept and consensus of open science. The following experts and scholars attended the meeting: 2 Nobel Prize winners (1attended the in-person meeting), 3 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences or academicians of the Academia Europaea, 3 heads of international organizations, including the head of world's largest academic book publishing group Springer Nature Group, and more well-known experts from more than 40 high-level think tanks at home and abroad.





The ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance also invited Mr. Michael Levitt, the winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, to serve as an honorary consultant. The ZGC Global High-Level Think Tank Alliance was approved by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and the Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park. It is a multilateral exchange and cooperation platform proposed and established by Beijing Academy of Science and Technology jointly with a number of high-level think tanks at home and abroad. In 2021, another group of think tanks from China, the United States, France, Israel and other countries applied to join. Then, the number of council members of the alliance has increased to more than 40, which has doubled in a year. In the future, the alliance will further focus on innovation-driven development and gather global think tank resources, so as to provide consulting services for decision-making in science and technology for local governments, economic and technological development zones, science and technology parks, enterprises and other innovative entities.
